Pitching & Presenting

The Love Coach & Brand Storytelling

In 2006, I was honored to become the Toastmasters European Humorous Speech Champion with my speech, “The Love Coach.” I used numerous brand storytelling tools in that speech, tools that I will refer to later this week in Chisinau, where a client and the Toastmasters local organizers have cooked up a big weekend!

I encourage my fellow Toastmasters and CEED Moldova participants to check out this video leading up to this weekend. Yeah, sure, it’s me in action, but, more importantly keep an eye out for storytelling tools that we’ll go into Friday and Saturday… and read below, too!

Yes, indeed, I’m all set for my trip to Moldova. I’m so excited to return there after helping form the Toastmasters Chisinau club three years ago.

I will present A Sale Is A Love Affair Friday at a business breakfast for CEED Moldova, an exciting community for helping entrepreneurs and business professionals.

On Friday evening, I will give a keynote, Great Journeys Start Here, as part of the kick-off to a huge Toastmasters Conference. I will refer to The Love Coach in my keynote, as it clearly was a defining moment in my own Toastmasters journey.

Then on Saturday, in and among the speech contests and other workshops that I’m really looking forward to attending, I will give a one-hour workshop on Storytelling entitled, Coffee With JK Rowling.

Storytelling has been an important part of my business life. Part of it comes natural, perhaps as the youngest of four brothers.

However, I’ve long insisted that great storytelling isn’t just about the gift of the gab. It’s much more than telling an anecdote and labeling it a story. As more and more brands are using stories to engage their stakeholders, as more and more presenters use stories to craft high-impact presentations, making it up just doesn’t do it anymore.

I was blessed to have graduated Syracuse University‘s Newhouse School of Public Communications in Magazine Journalism.

With two incredible professors, I spent my senior year learning and implementing the tools of feature writing with the tools of literature. I worked a few years in journalism after that, before somehow getting into international sales and marketing… but I’ve always, always, used those journalism tools in business… from creating presentations, to planning sales calls, to building brands.

So, in the past year, I’ve revved up my love for storytelling and crafted workshops around it. This is work that I love to do, not to mention a product I passionately believe in.

I look forward to sharing the love!

I also help brands with storytelling and companies of all sizes with crafting and delivering high-impact presentations. Let’s talk about love and sales. Contact me here and let’s set up a call, or sign up for my blog posts below.
